The International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) annual mega-sized convention, RECon, begins this weekend, and we here at Hartman Simons couldn’t be more excited. Many of our attorneys will be there for the show, and our annual RECon party will take place on Sunday night.
To help get you in the mood for the event, in today’s Four on Friday, we offer four bits of information about RECon 2014:
• The Show Should Be Bigger Than Last Year’s. In last week’s Four on Friday, ICSC spokesman Jesse Tron said attendance at this year’s RECon should exceed 33,000 (last year’s attendance totaled 32,600). The show will feature more than 1,000 exhibitors, also an increase from 2013.
• You Will Get to See The Man Who Co-Invented Twitter. Ben Stone, co-founder and co-inventor of Twitter, will be the opening keynote speaker on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. According to the official show guide, Stone has been “named Nerd of the Year by GQ, one of the Most Influential People in The World by TIME magazine, Entrepreneur of the Decade by Inc. Magazine, one of Vanity Fair’s Top Ten Most Influential People of the Information Age, and was honored with the International Center for Journalists’ Innovation Award.” #thatsprettycool
• Need Some Tips on How to Make it Through the Show? ICSC Has You Covered. There’s no doubt about it: RECon is intense. It’s a great event, but the size of the convention center and the action-packed days can overwhelm and exhaust an attendee.
Fortunately, ICSC has a Survival Guide that you can download here. (And first-time attendees may want to consider watching this orientation webinar.)
• There Will Be Lots of Online Chatter about RECon. To make sure you stay up-to-date on all the news coming out of this year’s show, follow @ICSC_RECon on Twitter. And to join the conversation, use the hashtag #RECon14.
