Hartman Simons’ Partner Diane Lidz represented the City of Marietta in negotiating the sale of 17 acres of land at Franklin Gateway to the golf entertainment company Drive Shack.
Drive Shack intends to build their golf and sports entertainment center adjacent to the Atlanta United property and Interstate 75. The property will consist of three stories, with the ground level open on one side for golfers to utilize as a driving range. The rest of the facility will serve as both golf and casual entertainment.
City Manager Bill Bruton confirmed there will be tabletop games, arcade games, as well as rooftop dining with views of the facility. Bruton also said the location is expected to bring 450 jobs to the area, bringing the total number of jobs to 2,400 after the Atlanta United project and IKEA deal, both part of the Franklin Gateway development in Marietta. Bruton continued, “I think the market has really improved since the redevelopment bond was passed,” he said. “The city has gone in and done many deals on the property… Because of all of that, the values have increased, and I think you’re just seeing a real appreciation in the market for being on Franklin Gateway, and that’s showing up in the pricing.”
