Hartman Simons’ Partner Diane Lidz, in collaboration with Marietta’s City Attorney, negotiated the sale of the former Marquis Place apartment complex to IKEA.
The City of Marietta announced Thursday that IKEA U.S. will build its second metro Atlanta store along the Franklin Gateway Corridor, which continues to grow after recently opening an Atlanta United training facility earlier this year. The IKEA Marietta store will be over 300,000 square feet, and as soon as it opens will instantly become the largest retail entity in Cobb County. “After 10 successful years in our Midtown location, we are excited to expand our presence with a new store in the Atlanta-area,” said Lars Peterson, IKEA U.S. president.
IKEA says there isn’t a timetable on when construction will begin, but the new store will help continue to boost the economy of Atlanta and Marietta with an influx of jobs. “We know from our history here in Atlanta that this is going to be a home run store for us,” said IKEA Real Estate Manager Jim Anastos.
